Quantitive Research

Quantitive Research primarily focuses on statically oriented information, there are various methods of collecting data for quantitive research; polls, questionnaires, and surveys. The questions usually asked in quantitive research are quick easy yes, no or rate out of 10 questions as this method doesn't look for in depth answers.

For example film makers may use quantitive research to get a rough idea of their film by asking for ratings out of 10. However if they want in depth answers such as reviews, that is Qualitative research. The findings from Quantitive research are not conclusive and only helps develop a basic understanding to base future decisions on.

Example: Below here is an example of a Poll that Facebook once conducted to gain information, this is a good example of quantitive research as they are looking for short answers and attempting to gather as much information as possible with simple question answers such as (yes or no)

Through the examples it is distinctly made apparent that the questions asked are close ended and don't require depth at all but rather just straightforward answers.

Qualitative Research

Qualitative Research is a form of primarily research. It is used to gain an understanding of reasons, opinions, and motivations for people to purchase products or services. It provides insights into issues and helps to develop ideas or hypotheses for potential quantitative research.

Qualitative research surveys are non statistical and result into in-depth reasons and opinions on why certain aspects of products and services are successful and unsuccessful to give the developer of the product or service a deeper understanding on what their consumers like and dislike about their product/service so that they may take this into consideration and make adjustments.

Example: Here is a photo of a Questionnaire that can be used to ask a bunch of in depth questions which means that this is a form of Qualitative research.

People would use this form of research to gain in depth information on an individuals opinion or gather information on their customers etc.

Through the 2 examples showcased its made apparent that all the questions require in depth answers as they aim to acquire detailed answers with a lot of information.
